i agree completely, modern music would ruin the atmosphere. Hmm...what about actors you'd like to see play the roles?

hmm, I don't know many of those. As for music, I think Maj has a really good idea there. EotW would need an 'otherworldy' sound for it to give a real impression to the audience. It's really important that a soundtrack of a movie be just as good as the film itself. In my opinion, if you can't listen to the soundtrack without watching the movie, then it's not good enough. Ooh! Where do you guys think it should be filmed?!

They're all quite well known, but more from telly than movies.
As for location, it would probably need to be filmed on several locations. The Borderlands could be filmed in India, at the foot of Himalaya. The Aiel Waste in Sahara, the Blight on Iceland, Cairhien in France, with the Alps acting as the foot of the Spine, the Two Rivers in Sweden or Norway, Tear and Illian in southern Spain, Altara and the mountains of Illian in Greece or Turkey...

that seems like a huge project, no wonder they haven't started yet. That's a really long series from what I've heard though. Wouldn't the actors aging be a problem? At least that's what I think.

I don't think aging would be that big of a problem, look at a series like Stargate SG-1, it's running on it's 10th season, and none of the main characters have gone through any aging that can't be covered by a good makeup artist.
If made a series, 10 seasons would be a reasonable length. If well prepared, it can be filmed much quicker. When plots get separated, they can be filmed simultaneously, and there's no need for the breaks telly series have to take while waiting appproval for one more season.

Imagine the costumes, those would be fantastic. Personally, I can't wait until a movie/series comes out....even though that might not ever happen. The one thing I do wonder is, do you think RJ would let them seperate the different weaves by color like in the comics? Because from what he says, you're not supposed to be able to 'see' the difference. I don't know, this entire 'source' thing would be difficult to portray.

I don't see it as necessary to see the weaves. It might look more ridicilous. Quite early in TEOTW Moiraine starts explaining to Egwene and Nynaeve what channeling is, so it gets established quite soon, and viewers who doesn't pick it up...Well, they could go and find something more comprehensible, like Mickey Mouse.

hahaha Maj that's great...Well i've never read the WoT, so if I can pick it up, anyone can Right now though would probably be a good time to bring up a WoT movie since 'fantasy films' are 'in'. But again, since i haven't read it..what rating of a film are we looking at here? PG-13...R?

I'm against any kind of censoring movies, so the rating where anything goes. Whatever that is, we don't really have that system in Sweden, only three age recommendations, 7, 11 or 15.
There are quite an amount of blood & gore and nudity that is most relevant for the story. But again, if you can't deal with that, there's always Disney.

I wonder how the Wheel of Time would be if it was made by Disney haha...

And for our system, Boromir, i'm pretty sure WoT would be rated R because of all the gore and such. (Remember, LotR was almost rated R for violence...and WoT is far more involved with that)
I really hope there ISN'T an animated version of WoT like they did with LotR....that would really suck...how long do you think we'll have to wait until WoT is finally on screen?
(in my opinion...many many many years...)

Well, first the final book should be published, so movies/series can be planned based on a completed series. Then there's the procedure of finding people to write a script, RJ must then read and approve the script, investors must be found, if it's made for telly it must be sold to a station...After that they can start signing contracts with actors, director(s), and all the other staff.
Best case scenario, we can get a pilot around 2010.

Yes, but keep in mind Maj's estimate is if everything goes as planned/well as of now. We still don't even know that, but 2010 is a pretty good guess i'd say. Now I don't mean any offense to mister RJ, but with that disease he has, there isn't much time to wade these things out. I think it would be ideal if RJ was alive and active during the filming of his series. Hopefully, his health will improve.

Even if RJ recovered 100%, I doubt he would be involved in the filming other than approving the script. He's a writer, and he's got more books to write, rather than spend time on a movie. I also think the movie would suffer from having a constant contact with RJ, to make the best out of it the film staff would need to be able to act quite freely.
