I think you can enjoy the films better if you have read the books at least a couple of months before you see the film. That way you don't have things in to fresh a memory.

I might have a bit to much time between reading the Return of the King, and seeing the film. But I won't reread until after I have seen the movie.

Hey I've read the Trilogy, Hobbit Lost Tales I, Unfinished Tales, Letters, and the Silmarillion! Do you think maybe we could get some indepth discussions here? Or maybe if people who are reading the books and don't understand something we could answer it for them. With out giveing it away of course!!!

Are lost tales and unfinished tales worth reading? I have never gotten around to reading them.

Well, Lost Tales is pretty hard to understand, I had to read it twice to comprehend it, but it is worth it! And the unfinished tales are worth it, there are many stories that go more indepth on things you've heard about in LotR for example, Of Tuor and his coming to Gondolin, history of Galadriel and Celeborn, the quest of Erebor, the hunt for the ring, the battles of the fords of Isen, the Druedain, the istari, and the palantiri. Check them out!
