I do recommend that you start with The Silmarillion first, to get the general history of Middle-Earth. It's easier to comprehend the other books after that

Indeed, Lazarus, friend of Halloween, has also read that many Tolkien books and more, and he also collects them to form his library of all Tolkien power. I would definitely suggest reading Silmarillion twice, because I got so much out of it in the second reading. After that, it's much easier to tackle the older and more cryptic books. Knowing the history for Lost Tales I & II really helps out. Hope u start that library. And to Hal, I will always best u in all your endeavors. Yours truly, Lazarus the impecably haughty

I do not appreciate your criticism of my excellent grammar. At least I am making a library of Tolkien. As for your grammar, it never ceases to impress me ;D, especially your spelling, which is impecable like my haughtiness. Yours truly, Laz the impecably haughty

Sorry if I use some superfluous words! By the way, I stopped using that signature thing, so don't expect it any more. ;D
