What if PJ made The Hobbit into a movie?? Would it be as good as LOTR? Would it be the same without Ian Holm as Bilbo? Comments...

I heard he wants to make it...but he doesn't know if he will. Anyway, I think it would be really good. Though, it would be kinda weird since it wouldn't have Ian Holm as Bilbo. But...I think it would be pretty cool. p.s. There's a man in my area of Orlando, whos name is Bilbo Baggins. Go figure...

*laughs* that's funny Rose of Pirates. The hobbit, a movie, I personally don't think it would be as good, and since the triglogy was made, done, and a complete success, PJ and his "crew" wouldn't work as hard on the Hobbit. I think it would lack the greatness of the LOTR movies.

maybe..........but i read that they originally planned to do the hobbit before they decided to go for the trilogy, so it could turn out pretty good, if they decide to film it. and as a story, the hobbit is definitely more cheerful than lotr! it would be weird, though, without ian holm. He really did an awesome job as bilbo.

I dunno...I agree that it would NOT be as good as the LotR Trilogy, but...I think it might be pretty good. *shrugs*

I am in a LOTR fanclub magazine and they have an "Update with Peter Jackson" section...they asked him that very question and he said that he didn't really want to...he just wanted to lay down and do some quiet New Zealand films...I have to agree with Minya though...that they would lack the quality of Lotr, not that PJ would slack,,,just because it is the hobbit and not the trilogy...i don't know where you got that they were going to do the hobbit first but that is most definitely not true...believe me, i know...there was a directors meeting about WHOWAS GOING TO FILM LOTR, not the hobbit. Namarie.

It was a couple of years since I read the Hobbit, but isn't it better suited to make a movie of. It has a straiter storyline, and is a bit more intense. well, just my humble thoughts...

hee hee, TheEvenstar, i didn't say that he WAS making the movie, i said WHAT IF he was going to make the movie... I would have to agree with Rose...it wouldn't be as good as LOTR, but it would still be really cool.

here, you guys might find this interesting... New Line Pursues Hobbit Rights The fate of the franchise may lie with the Tolkien estate. December 02, 2003 - Keen to build on the success of its three Lord of the Rings films (ROTK is a foregone conclusion), New Line Cinema is now actively pursuing the possibility of a film based on The Hobbit. According to The Australian, however, there is a hang-up: the Tolkien estate. It seems that Tolkien's heirs, who have already riled Peter Jackson by refusing to permit a Rings museum in Wellington, are now a stumbling-block in the way of a Lord of the Rings prequel. U know what I have to say about that cartoon version of the Hobbit? That song drove me mad with its weird pitches! I think that the Hobbit movie will be slightly worse than the LOTR because the amount of action will be decreased!
