I haven't seen it but I've heard of it and seen ads for it online. It is only playing in the UK but I've seen it available online....so hopefully I will be able to see it soon. I hope Sean Astin doesn't let me down with this one...

I just mean that I hope this isn't one of those taking-advantage-of-fantasy-being-in movies with tons of funding but a cheap storyline. I' just don't want to see his career go down the drains. along with the movies SwordBound mentioned, he was also pretty good in Boy Meets Girl and absolutely hilarious in 50 First Dates

well this series isn't supposed to be serious fantasy. It's a 'comedic fantasy'. So it's very much in the quirky style of say "pushing up daisies" or other quirky shows like that.
The story line is that there's this one wizard, which is the one shown on the first page here, who basically sucks at wizardry. He can't even perform the simplest of spells, and all the other wizards can't stand him because he's annoying and stupid. Also, the 'university' or whatever it's called is very much like a modern ivy league college--everyone who goes there is either smart, rich, or got there by some sort of connection. The lame wizard got there by a connection. There's this forbidden book of 8 spells...8 or 7 can't remember...and one day when he was young he was convinced by other wizards to open it. When he did, one of the spells escaped the book and engraved itself into his mind. So now he lives with this 'voice' or 'spell' in his head all the time...and it's the only one he knows. The story is how this evil wizard wants control and power, and wants to gain it by gaining all of the spells--therefore he wants to kill this lame wizard of course, so he can steal the spell from his mind.
Sean plays a 'tourist', which is a guy from i guess what would be called our world. He comes with a camera and a trunk/chest that has legs and walks about/protects him. He's this very quirky ignorent guy who takes pictures of EVERYTHING, and i mean EVERYTHING. Soon everyone wants him too since he's carrying an insane amount of money in that chest of his. So the lame wizard teams up with him and becomes his tourguide so he can mooch off of the money.
They have adventures, and tons of close calls. The grim reaper is in the series too, he's a nutty character...well a lot of them are.
Anyway, i thought it was amusing.
