I heard about this book series from a guy on GameFAQs. I decided to check out the first one, The Darkness That Comes Before, and I really liked the series so far. I'm on book three. I don't know if the series ends on three or not. I think he's going to be writing a fourth one. If you get a chance, pick it up and read it.

It is fantasy, although a bit more graphic than normal fantasy. It's on comparison with A Song of Ice and Fire in terms of sex scenes and the like.
The story itself, though, is unique and I can't really compare it with anything. You'd have to go and read the series yourself.
