Help!

If I'm not allowed to make a new thread here, just delete it. But, I'm interested in doing upcoming RPGs and stuff...However, I've never done one in my life, and I really don't want to embarrass myself in front of everyone else (I'm sure they have a lot more experience than I do). I was wondering if we could have a thread for beginners, just for practice. Like, it wouldn't be a very detailed RP or anything, just so new people can get used to the whole thing. If anyone is willing to help me and start something like this, I would appreciate it very much. If not, it would be great if someone could give me some tips so I'm not completely unfamiliar with RPing. Thanks.

Well, I can give you a few tips, but if you really want practice, I suppose you had better ask someone else.

First of all, it's just like writing a story, other than the fact you're confined to one person's actions and thoughts.

It's best if you keep the same verb tense as everyone else, to make things simpler, and try and watch your spelling and grammar. Believe me, it can be awful when people don't.

Try and follow the story line and don't have your character "know" anything they shouldn't, just because you and the writer knows it.

It's easier if you know a bit about the subject you're rp-ing (such as LOTR), but if you don't, nobody will bite if you ask questions.

Finally, it's very hard to embarrass yourself, so don't even worry about it. Besides, everyone has to start somewhere.

Perhaps you should check out some of the old rps on the board? They may give you some ideas of what to expect... If you have any questions for me, just ask or PM!
