So, apparently Red Eagle is still kicking around the idea, so who knows, maybe it'll happen. Here's a bit of mentioning along with the comic updates:

Wow. I hope they don't get the rights. I'm terrified that they'd totally destroy my nice opinion of the books by going with completely different portrayals of characters and events than I imagine.

I think if Harriot is involved, things would be more accurate and 'correctly portrayed'. However, if she is not, you're right, they might ruin it

Yeah, I'd be terrified of 1) Character misportrayal, 2) Culture Misportrayal, 3) Shadowspawn misportrayal (specifically, Myrddraal, since we don't want them to look like Nazgûl), and 4)Misportrayal of channeling.

Yeah. Maybe they'll get Ridley Scott and Peter Jackson to work together on it. ^_^
And get Harriet as advisor. And me. ~_^

Ridley Scott directed Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, Tears of the Sun, and numerous other fantastic movies.

oooh, I know those movies, didn't know who directed them though. How ironic, I'm listening to the gladiator soundtrack right now! I think what they're ultimately going to end up doing is getting a new director that a lot of people probably haven't even heard of, especially if Red Eagle is in charge....they don't have much prestige i don't think

Well, I haven't heard about them in relation to anything else, so that's probably what they're going to do, though not necessarily what I think they should do.
Oh, the Gladiator soundtrack is the best one ever. Beyond any doubt.

I know that Red Eagle asked Peter Jackson to direct the WoT and he said no...so....that's not going to happen

There go my hopes. I suppose (and hope) that PJ hasn't read the books, if he said no. Or maybe it's for the better--maybe he declined because he doesn't think that he can do them justice. I tend to agree with that last bit.

I don't think he's read them, but they asked him like right after he did the LotR films, so he was probably wiped out with fantasy. Who knows, maybe if they ask again now he might?
