yeah i can understand that, but even so, personally Eotw was my favorite book of the series so i'm not complaining. WoT is just excellent and 'similarities' is no excuse to put it down! I think unless the person has read the entire series they really can't judge it accurately.

When comparing Gandalf and Moiraine one big difference is that Gandalf maintains his position as perhaps the most powerful character in the books, we realize that Moiraine only is a fairly powerful Aes Sedai. I can't see Gandalf loosing against anyone but Sauron, well possibly Tom Bombadill. It's perfectly clear that Moiraine is no match for any of the 13 forsaken. Even among the good guys she has been surpassed by at least Rand, Nynaeve, Egwene and some more when it comes to magic. I think even Mat would win a fight against Moiraine. This was of course all before she disappeared, I'm really looking forward to see how much she has changed when she comes back.
