I like Star Trek better, but that's a personal opinion... They're both good in their own way.

Well, I think Star Trek is better for the simple fact that it is more complicated and more imagination was required to create it. Star Wars is good in its own right, but there aren't a whole lot of surprises in the plot if you have all 6 episodes in order. Why do you think they only made the last 3 books into movies in the first place?
Star Trek has been able to create multiple recognizable characters, species, worlds, and even languages. (For example, do you know Klingon is an official language in Germany, I think.)

it is similar to German.
Innyway, I prefer Star trek for its' complexity, starship appearances and characters, and its' message of hope about our future (all races and peoples united).

I like the Star Wars books (not the tiny ones, the big thick ones, i think their better than the movies!) But I also like the Star Trek series.
