Ok, so i bought KoD and am now on page 365 or something of the sort....and i don't really understand what's going on. I guess it's because CoT confused the heck out of me. Can anyone try to explain what's happening? Mat is hanging around with Tuon and Thom, Moiraine's letter is revealed, Perrin plans to get Faile (still), and Elaida (sp?) has Egwene....but...eeeeh i don't know, i'm confused on the details. Anyone willing to help?
oh and...what was up with the meeting the chosen had?

Just what is it that you don't understand? Mat more or less kidnapped Tuon in WH, when he and the others fled from Ebou Dar. She has since promised to not try to escape, which gives Mat a chance to get to know his future wife a little better. Thom has been with Mat all the time, just waiting for Mat to finally pop the question about the letter.
Perrin has been planning to free Faile since LOC, the details are quite simple. He's going to use the help of the Seanchan, we learned that they were in the area in COT.
Egwene was captured at the end of COT, after having turned the harbour chain to Cuendillar.
And the Chosen meeting showedew things. Moridin once again forbids anyone to kill Rand. He also orders Mat and Perrin to be killed, something that's been foreshadowed since book one, kill one, and the tripod will fall. It also sets up an interesting thing between Graendal and Halima, which might result in either a struggle for power, or a very unexpected alliance. The mentioning of Sammael leaves us with two possibilities. Either the DO has recycled him, like he's done with Moridin, the Gars and Cyndane. Or someone is posing as him, to avoid being discovered doing things Moridin won't like. And finally, there's two empty chairs. Foreshadowing that Taim has been raised to Chosen?
It would be easier to answer if you specified which details you find confusing.

Of course he was sitting around during COT. He, as well as Nynaeve were quite exhausted after cleansing Saidin. So he spent COT sitting around, resting and planning what to do next, for example trying to get a truce with the Seanchan.
But don't worry, he'll gte some nice action in KOD.

This one is my favorite after Crown of Swords. I loved Mat in this book. Rand was pretty cool, but Mat was awesome. It thought it was really weird, though, that Rand didn't appear in the book until really far in. Kind of odd. That twist, though, really caught me by surprise. I was like "Nynaeve can heal that, right? Of course she can....she's going to," at first, and then kind of just stunned. He's a blademaster, and now he's got to relearn the sword. That's not cool.

Thanks for the welcome! and yes, I am a new member, so it's not like it's a late welcome, either.
I used to have some trouble figuring out which book I liked best, but now I've decided that I like the ones best that have the most of Mat in them, and when he's at his coolest, which would be Crown of Swords, then Knife of Dreams, and then The Fires of Heaven.

Yeah. He rocks. He is far and away the coolest character in the series (well, maybe not that much cooler than Rand or Lan, but he's still the coolest).
