Yes, it's old. And don't start jumping around in joy for the upcoming WOT movie after reading this.
What this means is that Red Eagle has bought the rights to produce "a" WOT-movie. It does not mean that they will, or even plans to do so. This is simply the first step in a long chain of things that must be done before any kind of work can start. IF Red Eagle decides to move on with this, they'll need to find someone who's willing to finance a gigantic project like this. Compare WOT with LOTR to get a sense for just how huge this project would be, ONE book in WOT is about the same size as the entire LOTR, often bigger. And there are 12 books in WOT...
And then, IF Red Eagle managed to find the cash, they must translate the books into a script, which then must be OK-ed by RJ.
Only after that can they actually start working.
So don't get your hopes up.
