In theory, of course it can be done. But in reality? The depth and complexety demands that most books must be made into a movie that takes at least 4-5 hours, and with twelve books...Add the necessary technology, and we're talking about a project more expensive than Star Wars, LOTR and Matrix together. And since the length makes it way more suitable for television, 25-30 2-hour episode perhaps, it's so not gonna happen right away.
Though, it could be made as anime, I suppose, but that's hardly something I want to see.

yes my thoughts exactly, but what if only one film were to be made. For example, New Spring? It would be enough to help spread word of RJ's WoT and probably satisfy some of his fans and at the same time, it wouldn't have to go into the series so you wouldn't have to worry about making all the other films. I don't know, what do you think?

Nah, I can't really see the point of making New Spring. And I can't see any good coming out of it, since people not familiar with WoT would understand so little of what's going on that it might scare away people rather than make them read the series.
There's the problem with NS, that the main plot doesn't get solved. Moiraine and Siuan "gets" the task of finding the Dragon Reborn, but it ends almost 20 years before they succeed.

hmm..yes you have a very very good point there. I wonder if it will ever be made into a film . I highly doubt it. Perhaps if they did it in some other form, other than anime. *shrug*

The problem remains even if they did it as anime: the length of it. 12 books x 4-5 hours, it simply can't be done as movies. Which leaves TV. And personally, I wouldn't watch a TV-series if it came out as anime.
However, to return to the initial thread, Red Eagle has bought the Rights to produce a movie or TV-series. Which doesn't mean that they have any plans to actually do it.

Aye, that's true.Hmm..What if it was a regular tv series, not anime? Would you watch it then??

Of course I would, even if I want to say that it depends on the director and the actors...

Yeah, that would be very time consuming. And the cast, there are some good actors now-a-days though, i don't think that would be to difficult of a task. Perhaps finding a director who's willing to go through all the work....that would be challenging.

Well, I'd prefer a somewhat unknown director, nest of all if it's also a fan of the books in the first place.
I'd really like to see what Joss Whedon could do. Ok, it's pretty established, but still young enough in the business to not be completely messed up.

Buffy, Angel, Firefly...Ok, he's mostly a writer, but he has directed several episodes of all his shows, and done so very good. He's currently working on his first movie (which I've forgotten the name of)

oooh. Hmmm...well I guess it depends on how his movie turns out to see if he's good in that area.

Well, if WOT is to be made into a TV series...Besides, I can't see any director that's into movies right now that I'd want to see touch WOT.

I don't know, I think there are a few good directors out there.
