ok, i cheated...again....let's pretend this isn't under book discussions. *laughs* What would be best for the WOT series?? I personally think an audio series is the only thing that would make WOT come to life while still not ruining your perspective of the series. A movie might ruin it. What do you think??

I would like to see an attempt towards a movie or tv series based on the books, but it would be hard, if not impossible to completely capture the books.

Well, if the right people were involved a couple of movies could work, LoTR is a good example of that. But, a mini-serie would probably be better, because of the huge number of books. Maybe three 1-hour episodes per book. That would mean 36 episodes if RJ manages to finish it in 12 as he says he will (which I highly doubt).
The problem is money. There are a lot of characters who needs to be casted (and payed). And it would require loads of special effects to make it work.
But, I think it's possible to make a good mini-series out of it.

Well an anime would bee cheaper, and it could work out allright. But I strongly doubt they will try to make anything of it.

it's hard to say, but no matter how you translate it into another media, someone's perception of the books will get knocked around

Of course, it's impossible to please everyone, especially in something as huge as this. One attempt that looks good though, is the making of a 3D animation of the prologue in EOTW. There are a few previews at Dragonmount, and I personally think they're on the right track. But I would prefer a real movie/series, since an animation never can be as good as a real actor.

yeah same here. 3-D animation is cool, and at least it brings the story to life at some level, but having an actual person portraying the character and the emotions and changes of each character is just... more understandable? more emotional? realistic?
that is unless the actor completely sucks. that would kinda ruin it.
WoT is a lot of books and still unfinished so that would be a pretty darn long movie/series. the prologue of EOTW sounds interesting.

I tend to think that if WoT is to be taken to the screen it should be real live actors, not drawings or animation. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Anime (am currently obsessed with Witch Hunter Robin), but if the art quality is bad, that would totally ruin WoT. In fact, there's plans for a comic book about New Spring, and I saw some pictures "leaked" in the web, and some of them are highly innaccurate, which doesn't go well with fans of WoT. Movie is ruled out because of the large number of books... unless... well, from Book 7-10 nothing has really happened (ok, a few things but they're goin' kinda slow), so if that could be merged, you could maybe make it out in 10 movies. No way, there's no resistance for so many. Mini-series. Yes, that could work, but it might take forever and ever to finish. What if people don't take to it? And how much are they willing to spend on a miniseries that requires so much work? LOTR movies were great, and worth all the $$$ because it was obvious that people would take to them... Can the chance be taken with WoT? *shrug* I like the idea of an Eye of the World movie or mini series.

Very good point. When it comes to taking WoT and putting it on screen, it's obviously not an easy task, but do any of you think it's possible? Or if it will ever be done? I personally think there's not much hope of that.
