I've heard mixed reviews about it, but something about Gollum singing just makes me cringe. It's finishing in Toronto in September (I think) and it going to London. After that, I don't know.

("the rock and pool is nice and cool, so juicy sweet...") but hmmmm...I'm going to have to research this musical...

my goodness, there's barely any information on it! well at least what I'm looking for...I really hope they make it to Broadway but I dunno, I'm not sure Broadway is going to welcome a story like Lord of the Rings...
I can only hope!

Hmm...yeah I think something like Lord of the Rings would be very difficult to make into a successful musical, especially since the movies have come out. It might be something that's for the hardcore fans and not really for the general public.

Very hard... the movies were successful, but the musical had to compete with that. Obviously they lost... and it was silly to make the musical after the loved Trilogy movies. The movie was bound to remain better than the musical, anyway.
I guess the better thing would be that it followed the storyline more, especially with the singing and all.

mhmm...yeah it would definitely be beneficial to include parts of the trilogy that the movie didn't have, it would be a real treat to us Tolkien fans. But as for everyone else, I'm not so sure...they might just get bored to death and wish they were watching the movies *shrug*

Yeah, especially those who would rather watch battle scenes than listen to endless singing I liked how they put in more of the characters that Jackson didn't though. Very nice.

hm...even though it's not getting very great reviews, I think I would still like to see it....just because of the extra characters and things you were talking about, it would be nice to see an adaptation that is closer to the text than the movies.

Calenfalathiel: I think it should be worth the watch anyway.
Minya: Aye, it is. Well, the reviews that I have read were not good ones.
