(sure you can go - if you would like. Hmm . . . I like that idea. Why not? Except Allison might be very surprised . . .)

*Rina turns back to the Pub. Sighing at the dusty look of everything, she resolves to clean everything up. Taking a wet cloth, she goes to all 65 tables of the Pub and wipes off the dust from the seats and the tables. Then she whips off the dusty, smelly table cloths and replaces them with fresher ones made out of purple silk and satin. After handing the old table cloths to another Elf for washing, she sits down to refill all the vases of the tables with fresh carnations, taking out the dead ones and throwing them away. Assistants help by opening all the windows to allow in fresh air, and dusting the velvet curtains that hang near the windows.*

He sat in a crooked corner of the tavern, eyes the colour of granite and skin like sour milk. Scraping another Tarot card from the deck he placed it face-up beside the two he'd already dealt. Time was a poison with only one antidote: more.
On the oak tableThe Lovers, The Hierophant and The Tower teased Thomas Unson with arcane whispers.

Lorin emerges from the shadows, cloak's hood raised over her eyes. She spots the man in the corner, but brings her eyes back toward the innkeeper. "A pint." She let the words slip from her mouth as a drink is pressed into her palm. Flicking a coin onto the table, she turns away, bringing the cool drink to her lips.

He scraped another card from the deck, too lost in thought to notice eyes watching him. Death. Surprise, surprise. His thoughts turned to his younger brother Robert. The nihilist. Too wrapped up in his own little insecurities to see the bigger picture. There was a time when Thomas couldn't stand to be in the same room with him. But all that had changed. Robert didn't complain so much anymore. The bond between them couldn't be broken.
He pulled another card from the deck to complete the pattern. Four cards on each compass point, east, south, west, north, and one in the middle. World. Laughter burned his throat and he slapped the deck from the table, scattering a flock of occult imagery onto the tavern floor.
"You're a terrible comedian." Thomas sighed.

Lorin gave a startled jump. Her cheeks flushed at the stupidity of her act as she tugged her hood farther over her eyes. There was no reason for her to be so skittish. The sheer idiocy of it all. She masked the face with the mug before her, swirling the drink every so often, before placing it back on the table with a sigh.
'What am I doing?' She kept the thought to herself, as she often did.
Her boots pulled at her, heavy with a month's travel's worth of mud. She didn't care to take much notice, but gazed into the mug before her, slipping into deep thought.
