The trilogy (in a dditiion to The Hobbit which is a must read as well) is probably the best piece of literature I've placed my unworthy hands on. Gripping, detailed, and majestic, the bugger is hard to read but it dominates anyway XD. Any thoughts you wanna share? Favorite scenes, opinions on writing style, etc... I'll listen, I really have nothing better to do o.o

I loved them, which book is your favourite?
I totally agree with you when you said it was hard to read, it took me about a week to read each book (Ok, that might not sound like a long time, but it is for me, I can usually read a book up to 400 pages in a day, or a day and a half, so one week is pretty long!)But it was so worth it! For those of you who HAVEN'T read it yet.......... READ IT!!

i can't decide which book is best...TOO HARD!!! i can't bear to think of choosing... ;D well, yes i do agree...it is difficult to read them and understand some of the things that happen...you have to read them twice to fully comprehend them. I like best how Tolkien creates his characters...they're all so different, and so realistic. It's just amazing how he comes up with such shapely characters...it's hard for me to explain it...do you understand me? *laughs*

I think that I usually see it as one book, just split in three for the convenience (it'd be pretty hard to have to carry around otherwise).

if i had to pick one, i'd say probably return of the king. it's the climax of the story after all! I'm really curious how Jackson changed it for the movie.....and we still have 25 days to go! *sigh*

Actulally, I really like the Silmarillion the best. It has all the history of the world and how the Elves began, ect. It's a little hard to read, but it's worth it! I'm reading it for the 4th time now...

Yes Sillmarillion is great, it took three readings for me to be able to keep track of all the stories though. And it's the onlyone now present in my booksheelf... (I don't even have any WoT at the moment.)
