Because the constructs that the forrruners...er for...anywas those who came before...anwyas what they left behind where halo shaped death machies used to house the flood, a species of alien that is parasidic and takes over sentient life. THe constructs are desighned to destroy all life if the flood is released. The covenanent, who are whildy regiously fanatic, Thinkt he halos are divine machines left behind. THey belive that it wil ltake them on a journey ot rendemtion and enlightinment, and don't relized the danger. THey also belive humeans to be ehathen and nothing more than a plauge to be whiped out....REALLY THE BOOKS ARE AWESOME!
