The Adventures of Gary Bombadil
There is a man, Who wonders the land, Searching for those in need. And he has done many a good deed, Throughout the years, Like the orc whom he pulled by his ears! And there was a time, When an elfy in danger was found, That no men with swords were bound, To save her. And so Gary came, Riding his valiant pony, He needed no fame, But to save others only. And so we come to Greasepan, The pony whom carried Gary, Throughout his years of wondering the land. Famous and strong he is very, But in the land of Rohan, He has a ban, Upon his rather large head. But to kill him he would not be dead, For he cannot be found in any farmer’s shed! So Gary, Gary, where hath thou been! Where you to the inn, And was there for Greasepan, Water in a bin? And so we come to the end of this tale, Which seems to have been written by a man on a pail! So Gary, Gary, where hath thou gone? For there is no lawn, To tend for thee! So watch behind you, for there is a bee!
And so end the tale of Gary and Greasepan...

well, here's another one...
The Duel of Greasepan and Shadowfax
Once upon a time, when on graves grew simbelmyme, there were many a valient steed. But the one with the most deeds, would most certainly be Greasepan. And once when he rode into Rohan, he met a great white horse. And so Shadowfax challenged the pony, to be first to finish a course! Now Greasepan was the fastes of the fast, and would never in a race be last! So he whinnied and neighed, and it was Shadowfax he bade, "none can't beat me!" And so they drew a line, and crossed it with twine. And so a Rider blew a horn, and to the end none can forlorn, how a simple pony, beat a Mereas only! Thus was how Greasepan, was banished from Rohan, on penalty of death! "Very well, sore loser! at least I'm not a boozer!"
Thus ends the Duel of Greasepan and Shadowfax...

Here is an ancient Lay about Greasepan and Gary
Where is the pony and the singer? Where is the twinky and the zinger? Where is the toe and the finger? They have passed, like rain on a mountain; like mud on a hill. The days have gone down with the best, into swamps...

that made no sense whatsoever...and it sounded a lot like the song/poem "where is the horse and the rider"

REALLY! OH MY ERU! This is a song of Lakeshinny, Gary's home!
Lay of Lakeshinny
In the north, where Mithrandir rode, where elves would sing, and Saruman goad, there was land without king. But now it has order, from a spirit of wood and glen, a land without border, with many a fen. For Gary came, and settled down, he needed not fame, just no orcs bound. Lakeshinny! Where the dance, and the sing, matter as much, as prince and king! And so Gary found, a lakewood bound, for no glory or fame. No kings, no swords, no strife and no blame! And now it is little known, where Gary resides, for he is not near the Shire, nor besides.
